In her practice Meg see's children and their parents for diagnosis, assessment, therapy, counselling and consultation. She has given lectures and workshops to teens, parents and teachers and she volunteers with community partners to support young people in the community. Many years ago, Meg gave a talk to the OASG and over the years has had many clients who suffer from life threatening allergies. She herself has a son who is anaphylactic to nuts and she knows first hand how difficult and anxiety provoking it can be for families when a child has a life threatening allergy.
Meg is offering to meet with us on September 12, 2017 and will present a slide show and facilitate a discussion with OASG members. To make the evening useful as well as informative, she is prepared to answer individual questions from OASG members about their children and particular situations that may be challenging for members. To make the evening more successful, we are asking that members think ahead about particular questions that they would like to ask Meg and send them in an email to Stephanie Lore at email@example.com.
Welcome to The Ottawa Anaphylaxis Support Group website. I am very excited with the amount of interest there has been for creating this group. There are already over 50 members in the group and hopefully many more to come. The Facebook page is up and running and updated regularly with articles, resources and helpful tips. Please feel free to post on the Facebook page and provide comments. Be sure to check the Facebook page is not the old OASG page, the new one has a picture of the parliament buildings and is updated. The first meeting will require a bit of time to do introductions and discuss the goals of the meetings and how we will achieve them. I will be asking people to volunteer to do small tasks throughout the year and will need committee members to assist with running the group. As well I thought it would be nice to have a small presentation on a topic of interest such as; travelling with allergies, developing/implementing an anaphylaxis plan with your school, talking to your child about anaphylaxis at different ages/stages. We will also discuss future meetings and guest speakers, and topics of interest. I will prepare a meeting agenda by the end of February and look for suggestions and comments. Thank you to everyone who has joined on. I hope we can make this group what it once was.
